Description

This Filet Mignon is an easy, flavorful dish that guarantees a delightful dining experience. With tender beef and aromatic herbs, it’s perfect for a quick and impressive meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 filet mignons
  • Kosher Salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme


Instructions

  1. Take the filet steaks out of the fridge 30 to 60 minutes before cooking.
  2. Generously season both sides with kosher salt and pepper and allow to sit.
  3. Preheat the oven to 475°F.
  4. Heat a cast iron pan over high heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Once hot, carefully add the oil.
  5. With tongs, place the filet mignons in the pan, seasoned side down.
  6. Sear for 2 to 3 minutes, then season the other side with kosher salt and pepper. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until a crust forms. Remove the skillet from heat.
  7. Add the butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for 4 to 7 minutes, checking the thickest part of the meat with a thermometer 5 degrees below desired temperature.
  9. Take out from the oven and tent with foil for 2 to 5 minutes. Baste with the melted butter and serve.

Notes

For the best results, allow the meat to come to room temperature before cooking.
Using a meat thermometer helps ensure perfectly cooked steak; aim for your desired doneness.
Basting with butter enhances the flavor and juiciness of the meat.
